Recognition for our work on interactive visualization

Exciting news from Amsterdam: At the Data Science Next Conference 2026 we were honored with the Women-Led Technology Excellence Award. This award recognizes our many years of work on interactive visualization systems, accessible data spaces, and tools designed not only to reveal complexity, but to make it understandable.

Insights from Data Science, AI, and Business Practice

The international conference highlighted just how dynamic and fast-moving this field has become. It brought together perspectives from data science, machine learning, AI, big data, research, and real-world business applications.

Across many presentations and discussions, similar questions emerged:

How can we make effective use of data?
How can we handle AI-generated results?
And how can we derive meaningful insight from ever-increasing amounts of information?

Our Presentation: Why AI Results Need Context

With our focus on interactive visualization, we were able to contribute a complementary perspective to the conference. In our presentation, “The Blind Spot in Data Analytics and the Role of Meaning,” we explored why data and AI-generated outputs alone do not create understanding. What matters is how results are interpreted within a specific context—and whether people can recognize the relevant connections.

That is why we develop visualizations that make relationships visible, communicate uncertainty transparently, and provide guidance. As AI systems generate increasing amounts of information at ever greater speed one question becomes increasingly crucial: What actually helps people understand complex relationships?

We are delighted to receive this award and see it as an encouragement to continue contributing our perspective on visualization, data, and AI to data-intensive and AI-driven topics. Many thanks to the organizers of the DSC Next Conference for the award and the inspiring international exchange.
