A Look Back at Brains on Silicon

How Data Becomes Insight

Two weeks after Brains on Silicon, the conference’s impact is still strongly felt here. Our team focused particularly on two major questions: What can AI already accomplish today, and how can companies successfully leverage these new opportunities to their advantage?

We were represented at the event with two formats:

In his presentation, “When Data Is Available but Context Is Missing”, Jan highlighted the tension between human intent and the results produced by systems. His talk addressed a theme that ran through many of the conference presentations: The more powerful AI systems become, the more important it is to be able to contextualize their results and form one’s own judgment based on them. Technical capability alone does not provide guidance. He summed up a trend we are already observing today: “Understanding is becoming the bottleneck”.

This was precisely the point where Betti picked up with her masterclass, “How Data Becomes Guidance”, the following day. About 50 participants worked on their own questions and, in three steps, organized what they already see, what is still unclear to them, and what they need to understand in order to take action.

For us, Brains on Silicon has opened up two new perspectives: Systems need to better understand what people mean—and people need to be able to understand what systems are telling them. The second perspective, in particular, will have a major impact on our work in the near future.

Many thanks to everyone who joined us in the discussion, contributed their own topics, and brought both formats to life.
